Therefore, we recommend taking a quick measurement-at the pickup positions-from the body to the strings. While our Dogear pickups are a fixed height, the neck angle and bridge height can vary on each guitar. However, if your action is very low-or you want to lower your action-you may need the Short Neck and Medium/Wide Bridge pickups, as well as shims for height adjustments. In most cases our Medium/Narrow Neck and Tall Bridge Dogear P-90s work for Casinos and Wildkats (see above chart). We STRONGLY recommend you read this entire section and also watch the video below to determine the correct size of dogears to order for your Casino. The Epiphone Casino (also the Wildkat) is a 'whole different animal' although it looks a lot like a standard dogear set. It's cut out of 1/32' thick material and it hides any trace of the original humbucker mounting. The oversized shim spans the extra width of the humbucker route and adds an extra distance of 3/32' all the way around. Shim packs include two “oversized” shim for use when installing Dogear style pickups into a guitar that has been routed for a humbucker-sized pickup. Our shim packs include six commonly used thicknesses and shims can be stacked to achieve a variety of heights. We sell shims to help you adjust your Dogear pickup to the optimal height.
